I have experienced the unfortunate event of losing my home keys and wallet on multiple occasions, particularly while shopping for stationary, groceries, and other items. This tendency arises from the fact that I often misplace my wallet, leaving it behind on the seat of a bus, auto-rickshaw, or other forms of public transport. This can be attributed to loose pockets and the bulkiness of my wallet.

This habit of misplacing my wallet has proven to be highly problematic, resulting in significant losses of cash, cards, and other valuable belongings. Moreover, the pocket wallet I use is uncomfortable and occasionally causes discomfort when sitting. As a result, I have a tendency to remove it from my pocket and place it on my lap or on desks, inadvertently increasing the chances of losing it.

This recurring situation has been a source of frustration and inconvenience, as it not only leads to financial losses but also disrupts my daily routine. In order to address this issue, I recognise the need for a more secure and practical wallet solution that provides both comfort and convenience, minimising the risk of losing my belongings.

What I Did?

Inspired by my frustrations with losing wallets, I had an idea to revolutionise the way I carry them. I thought about placing the wallet on my wrist, where it would be less likely to get lost and always within sight. I began by experimenting with pocket wallets equipped with fastening buttons designed to be worn on the wrist. As I delved deeper into this concept, I started utilizing upcycled materials such as deodorant cans, tin, used fabrics, denim, and measuring tape. Collaborating with artificial leathers, I focused on refining the design and improving the ergonomics of the wrist-worn wallet.

Idea Expansion

After extensive exploration and experimentation, I ultimately finalized three to four designs for wrist-worn wallets, each equipped with a secure fastener. I decided to put these designs to the test and used them personally for a year, evaluating their feasibility and potential. Through this experience, I realized that this problem of losing wallets is a common issue faced by many individuals. Given my one-year usage and positive experience, I recognised the opportunity to leverage this idea, identify the right target audience, and further develop it into a viable solution.
